The project question
A public venue needs maps, directions and searchable information at a key decision point. The display must remain legible, guide users quickly and allow technicians to service the terminal without disrupting the path.
Inputs that shape the kiosk
- Indoor, sheltered or fully outdoor location
- Sun direction, climate and operating hours
- Static wayfinding or interactive search workflow
- Touch technology, accessibility and language needs
- Network connection, CMS, application ownership and monitoring
- Foundation, power, cable routing and service access
Recommended decision path
Use outdoor LCD signage for non-interactive information in exposed sites. Combine an outdoor enclosure with the touchscreen kiosk architecture when visitors need search or navigation. Document software and peripheral ownership before prototype approval.
What to validate in a pilot
Test screen readability at the worst daylight period, touch performance, enclosure temperature, network behaviour, task completion and the technician service procedure before a wider rollout.
